Neuropsychological Evaluations

Individuals of all ages seek private neuropsychological evaluations to obtain a thorough understanding of their cognitive, academic, and social emotional profile. The data generated help determine how clients:

• engage in problem solving
• utilize memory and language
• approach visual motor tasks
• are able to plan, organize, and focus 
• relate to various settings (e.g. school, home, community, the workplace)
• regulate mood, emotions, and attention
• have acquired academic skills

Specific strategies and interventions are recommended to affirm profiles and  help the individual harness strengths in order to further develop overall performance. 

I have developed neuropsychological evaluation expertise with children, adolescents, and adults.  My assessment practice has primarily focused on the following concerns and diagnoses: 

• Learning Disorders (Reading, Math, and/or Written Expression)
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD)
• Autism Spectrum Disorders
• Challenges with Executive Function Processes
• Anxiety 
• Depression

It is important to note that a neuropsychological evaluation does not necessarily result in a specific diagnosis. 

Initial Consultation. The evaluation process begins with a one hour consultation, during which a detailed developmental, social, educational and occupational (when applicable) history is gathered. The initial appointment is for parents only when the evaluation is planned for a child or adolescent. 

Evaluation Sessions. Following the first appointment, two separate in-person evaluation sessions will be scheduled, each will last approximately three hours. 

Feedback Meeting. A one hour feedback meeting will follow shortly after the final evaluation session, during which findings and diagnoses (when relevant) will be discussed. An extensive report will follow approximately one 4-6 weeks after the feedback session. 

Collaboration with schools is essential. With parent permission,  I ask teachers to complete questionnaires, and I am available to speak with school teams as needed so I can develop a comprehensive understanding of the child or adolescent’s presentation and resulting needs. I am also available to share results in team meetings, and consult with school-based professionals. 

I do not accept insurance for neuropsychological evaluations. Many PPO, EPO and other similar insurance plans provide members with out of network benefits. I will supply clients with an itemized receipt, or Superbill, which will allow you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company if you have available out of network benefits. I do not submit billing materials to insurance companies directly.
